collective urban landscape project: elbow toe

Meatpacking District, New York City, 2008.

The building murmurs its discontent through the writings of this Elbow Toe. In less than a decade the Meatpacking District has almost lost its namesake industry for which buildings like this one on Gansevoort Street were built in the 19th century.

By the next day this scrawl had vanished like the memory of the thousands of blue collar workers who once plied their trades in this district now stalked by vacuous millionaires in search of their next material fix.
